Store and manage music with extra gigabytes in your Gmail account

Store and manage music with extra gigabytes in your Gmail account
Firefox only (Windows/Mac/Linux):
Many people like me have more than 5GB Storage capacity in their gmail account.

Gmail File Space extension, now known simply as Gspace. Just install the extension, upload some music, and then enter Player mode. From there you can create playlists from the music you've uploaded and play them in the embedded flash player. It's a bit of a hassle setting Flash to play files from Gmail (you have to change your Global Flash settings), but if you jump through the hoops it's pretty cool to be able to store music and build playlists from your Gmail account.

Gran Paradiso - is this technology going to prevent XSS attacks?

In the last post about the next major version of Firefox i wrote about the easy way to store different online bookmarks with sqlite on your pc.
Yesterday i found a very interested article about mozilla's aims to prevent XSS attacks in its upcoming Firefox 3 browser.

The Alpha 7 development release includes support for a new W3C working draft specification that is intended is secure XML over HTTP requests (often referred to as XHR) which are often the culprit when it comes to XSS attacks. XHR is the backbone of Web 2.0 enabling a more dynamic web experience with remote data.
...
A typical XSS attack vector is one in which a malicious Web site reads the credentials from another that a user has visited. The new specification could well serve to limit that type of attack though it is still incumbent upon Web developers to be careful with their trusted data...

read all

Is this technology really going to prevent reading malicious web sites? i found a post from Petko D. Petkov, a.k.a pdp: ...Firefox3 Vulnerable by Design from GNUCITIZEN

Pigatto, thanks for your lovely Firefox 3: Gran Paradiso interpretation!

Browser plugin for Firefox - Polar Rose

Distribution of a browser plugin for users and freely available APIs for photo sites. Users of the plugin will be able to add data about any photo on the internet, and search those photos later. Companies integrating the API will get a copy of the data created by users for free.

The plugin detects people in public photos and places our signature rose approximately where the pinhole of their shirt would be. A click on the rose will show the plugin overlay with relevant information, including name and other photos found of the same person.

Mozilla Firefox 3 - Bookmarks Offline Storage

Mozilla Firefox 3 - Bookmarks Offline Storage
Mozilla have given a sneek peak at the new version of Firefox 3. The newest and most exciting feature for me in this Alpha 5 release is the confirmation that “Places” will be stored locally using SQLite. Places is the new name/replacement for Firefox Bookmarks.

SQLite has certainly got on my radar as a hot technology to watch, following the announcement from Google that Gears will use SQLite to enable offline storage for applications such as Google Reader and hopefully GMail soon.

Mozilla will host a new open source project, called Tamarin, to accelerate the development of this standards-based approach for creating rich and engaging Web applications.
